The Resource Center is designed to service students who do not qualify for the Catapult Program, but need extra support in the areas of Math, English, and ACT preparation. Working with the students this year are Sue Lucheon, with 22 years of experience teaching Math at Brother Rice and Karen Van Assen who has been here for 16 years teaching English.
Students may receive services from the resource center by teacher, counselor, or parent recommendation only. The resource center will be available to students before and after school for 30 minutes, during the second half of the students’ lunch, and during study hall periods. Mrs. Lucheon and Mrs. Van Assen will communicate closely with the students’ teachers and assist the students with concepts they are learning in the classroom.
There are eight computers in the room, which will use PLATO software to help supplement the students’ work in the classroom. The PLATO program has additional lessons in math, English and ACT prep skills. The software is also very beneficial because it allows the teachers to keep track of student progress and mastery of the skills they are learning in the classroom.
If any questions should arise regarding the Resource Center, please feel free to contact Mrs. Sue Lucheon at (Ext. 381).
