Back to School Letter from Principal Jim Antos

Though there are still a few weeks before the end of the summer vacation, here is information regarding the opening of the 2012-2013 school year.  Class schedules and book lists have already been mailed home.

Freshmen and all transfer students are to report to school in dress code (solid color shirt and tie; yearbook and ID pictures will be taken) at 7:45 A.M. on Thursday, August 16.  Orientation will end by 12:00 P.M.  CTA passes may be available.  BRING YOUR BOOKS, YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE, AND SCHOOL LOCKS ON THIS DAY.

Furthermore, freshmen are to report to school on Friday, August 17, at 10:00 A.M.  Brother Rice uniform polo shirts may be worn (otherwise, solid color shirt and tie) and students may bring their books to place in lockers, IF they did not do so on Thursday.  Orientation will end by 12:15 P.M.

Sophomores are to report to school in Mass dress code (solid color shirt and tie; yearbook pictures will be taken) on Friday, August 17, at 8:00 A.M.  Orientation will conclude by 11:00 A.M.  CTA passes may be available.

Juniors WILL NOT have an official orientation session prior to the start of classes. Juniors are to be in dress code (solid color shirt and tie OR BR uniform polo shirt) for the first day of classes, which is Monday, August 20 (a 30-minute schedule). ALL JUNIORS WILL MEET during the 7th period class (12:00 P.M.) in the Main Gym for approximately 30 minutes.  CTA passes may be available in the Main Office on August 19.

Seniors WILL NOT have an official orientation session prior to the start of classes. Seniors are to be in dress code, (BR uniform polo shirts are appropriate) for the first day of classes, which is Monday, August 20 (30-minute schedule). Seniors who have not had their official senior portrait taken by HR Imaging/Root will not have their class schedules available unless prior arrangements have been made with Mr. Antos.

The orientation days are counted as school days for freshmen, sophomores, and transfer students, and the opening days of classes are important for a good beginning to the school year.  Please be sure your summer plans include the return to school for these opening days.

The first full day of classes for all students is Monday, August 20.  It is a 30-minute schedule (8:10 A.M. to 12:43 P.M.). Tuesday, August 21, is a modified assembly schedule with 35-minute classes and a 35-minute assembly for all classes.  Dismissal on August 21 will be approximately 2:00 P.M.

Please read carefully all the information included in the mailing.  It will help you not only with a smooth opening of school, but it will also be beneficial in the weeks to come.  I pray the Lord will bless all our endeavors throughout the 2012-2013 school year.
