Hello Band Families!
Hope all is well and that the summer has been restful and enjoyable. In just two weeks, the band gets underway for the 2012 – 2013 school year. I am excited about all of the new music the students will be learning, and the great adventures we will have! Just a couple things that I would like to remind you about and some updates to summertime renovations:
1. Band camp dates are July 30 – August 10 (8:00A.M. – 12:00 P.M.) This camp is mandatory and any who will miss time must contact Mr. Briggs immediately.
2. Percussion will meet for sectionals this week on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00A.M. – 12:00 P.M. These practices are not mandatory but strongly encouraged for anyone who is available.
3. We have made some major renovations to the band room this summer and I cannot wait for everyone to see them. Below are some pictures of the process. This past weekend, led by the extreme skill of Eric Passman, Mrs. Barkowski, five students and I spent 23 hours ripping carpet, painting, and building (with Mr. Passman) the “new” band room. I also want to send a very special thank you to Dr. Burns who found a donor to pay for the new carpet in the band room.
