Music Notes: Meet and Greet for New Freshmen

By Dan Briggs, Music Director

Hello!

The music department at Brother Rice High School would like to invite all incoming freshmen to a “Meet and Greet” on Thursday, March 1, at 6:30P.M. in the band room.  (If you don’t know where that is, contact me and I will help you out)

Believe it or not, it is already time to begin your high school career!   The “Meet and Greet” will be a great opportunity to meet other incoming students who are also interested in music, as well as some of the current freshmen who you will get to know very well during your high school career.  I will be present to talk about the program and meet each of you individually so that I can plan for a music program that will greatly benefit you as an individual in the coming year.

If you are hesitant about whether or not you would like to be part of music next year, please contact me!  I will assure you that if you do decide to be involved in music, you will NOT regret it.  Students in music are well-rounded.  They are part of many clubs, take regular/honors/AP courses, and play a wide variety of sports in every season.

Bottom line…..you should join the band or chorus.

The process to join band or chorus is a little more involved (but not difficult, though) than just selecting it as an interest on the entrance exam paper work. You just need to fill out on additional form to be a part of band or chorus.   If you attend the session on the March 1, I will provide you with this form.  Otherwise, I will be available at the March 3 registration event to answer questions and give you a chance to fill out the registration form.  However, there is a third option; if you can’t attend the session on the 1st or the 3rd, you can e-mail indicating your interest and I will make sure you get signed up.

The event on March 1 will be a great way to get involved right away.  It helps make the transition to high school smoother and much more enjoyable.  If you cannot attend, do not worry; there will be additional events for you in the near future.  You are a Crusader now; time to get started.

I hope to see you soon!  I can be contacted by e-mail.  Please let me know if I can help you in any way.
