The Cook County Sheriff Youth Services Department visited Brother Rice on Wednesday, October 24, to present information to sophomore students who have or will be receiving a driver’s license.
Approximately 170 students were invited to experience the motor skills of a drunk driver by driving golf carts around orange cones. They also experienced a simulated driving exercise to witness a speeding vehicle and lack of stopping time. Two short videos were also presented about the tragedies of texting and overcrowding a vehicle to distraction.
