Brother Rice has wrapped up a week of festivities leading up to the homecoming dance. Throughout the week, the students dressed in themes such as “Roll Out of Bed,” sports jerseys, Hawaiian clothing, and Brother Rice school spirit.
On Tuesday, Nicky V’s taco food truck was on campus during lunch periods, offering delicious tacos as a different lunch option. Senior Kyle Fehsel said, “I eat from the cafeteria every day, and when Nicky V’s food truck rolls around, I get to enjoy a tasty alternative.”
On Wednesday during lunch periods, Brother Rice set up inflatable bounce houses and other games outside the cafeteria. Instead of sitting at a cafeteria table the whole lunch period, students were able to have a bit of fun with their classmates. From racing each other in the inflatable race course to playing a friendly basketball game, it was a great way to unwind and have a bit of fun.
On Thursday, Nicky V’s food truck returned, but this time with its hot dog and burger menu. They had a great variety of choices from Chicago-style hot dogs, double cheeseburgers, cheese fries, and more.
On Friday, it was pep rally day. We had a short scheduled day of classes, then the big pep rally. The main event was an exciting wrestling match that took place throughout the gym.
Senior George Escobarete said, “I liked how the wrestling match during the pep rally gets the students involved. However, my favorite part was when Mr. Creed jumped into the ring and showed off his amazing wrestling skills.”
Brother Rice wrapped up Spirit Week on Friday with a 42-7 win over Niles Notre Dame, and the homecoming dance on Saturday night. It was a great way to end such a fun week.
Senior Joe Bowen said, “The homecoming week of festivities at Brother Rice will be a memory I cherish forever. It is such a wonderful time to hang out with all of my friends and create unforgettable memories.”
