Brother Rice High School is proud to announce the hiring of Casey Quedenfeld as the 2022 Head Football Coach. Quedenfeld has served in two of the nation’s top high school football programs, most recently as the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, where he helped the Knights secure the Texas Private School State Championship in 2019 and Runner Up in 2018. Before that, he was the Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California, where he was mentored by Marvin Sanders, a former college football coach at Nebraska and USC. “Coach Quedenfeld has enjoyed success at the most competitive schools and conferences in the United States,” said Brother Rice Athletic Director, Jim Prunty. “We are excited to have Casey as part of our faculty and athletic coaching staff at Brother Rice.”
Coach Quedenfeld joins Brother Rice this fall as a Business and Economics teacher as well as Assistant Dean. In the upcoming season, he will support Coach Brian Badke in his quest for another Catholic league championship and state title run. “As Coach Badke prepares for the 2021 season, his final season on the gridiron at Brother Rice, we are committed to ensuring that we are well prepared for the 2022 season and beyond. In Mr. Casey Quedenfeld, we have found both an excellent high school teacher and head coach,” continued Prunty.
A graduate of Temple University, Quedenfeld most recently taught AP World History and US History and has also taught Economics. “Coach Quedenfeld takes pride in being an exceptional classroom teacher. He is a well-rounded educator who easily transitions between his academic responsibilities and his role as a football coach,” Brother Rice Principal Bob Alberts said. “His success as a teacher and as the Offensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach, and Defensive Coordinator at two of the most prestigious schools and high school football programs in the country is what enabled him to stand out in a very large field of strong candidates.”
Brother Rice President Mark Donahue remarked, “At Brother Rice, we have had only six head football coaches over 65 years, with three in the Catholic League Hall of Fame. We are confident that beginning in 2022, Casey will not only continue in the tradition of those fine coaches but even exceed their performance.”
Welcome to the Crusader family, Coach Casey Quedenfeld!
