Brother Rice High School (Chicago) is proud to announce that Michael Fahey will join the administrative team as the new Director of Athletics on July 1, 2022. At Brother Rice, Fahey will oversee seventeen interscholastic high school sports programs and more than 550 student-athletes competing in the venerable Chicago Catholic League Conference.
“I’m excited and ready to embrace the brotherhood and culture of an all-boys school,” says Fahey of his new role at Brother Rice. “I want to thank President Mark Donahue, Principal Bob Alberts, and the rest of the committee for the opportunity. I’m looking forward to facilitating a positive and ethical learning environment for all student-athletes and coaches, as well as leading by example in promoting the values, mission, and community within the Catholic tradition at Brother Rice.”
“He’s a great fit,” adds Brother Rice Principal Bob Alberts. “Michael’s preparation, communication, and operational management skills stood out in a list of highly qualified candidates. We are thrilled he is joining the Crusader team!”
Fahey brings with him a cache of experience that will help sustain the success of the athletics programs at 99th and Pulaski. He will be wrapping up his third year as the AD at IC Catholic Prep in Elmhurst. He attended St. Patrick High School before earning his bachelor’s degree at Benedictine University, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team. Prior to assuming the position at IC, Mike has had assistant coaching and coordinator stops with the women’s basketball programs at the University of Tennessee under legendary Coach Pat Summitt, DePaul University under Coach Doug Bruno, and Lewis, as well as with the men’s and women’s programs at University of Illinois-Chicago. He lives in Oak Forest with his wife and two daughters, ages 2 and 1.
