Brother Rice senior Justin Jefferson is always on the move.
The 5-foot-11, 233-pound defensive end resembles the Energizer Bunny. He just keeps going and going and going.
Brother Rice receiver Kevin Phelan recently found out why.
“Justin took me to his trainer one day during the offseason,” Phelan said. “Oh my god, I was about to throw up. It was the toughest workout of my life.”
Jefferson confirmed he worked harder than ever on his strength and conditioning during the offseason.
He has also spent more time studying film to get a leg up on the competition to further benefit Brother Rice, ranked No. 3 in the preseason by the Daily Southtown.
“I’ve worked a lot on my pass rushing,” Jefferson said. “I want to disrupt the backfield and get to the quarterback.”
Jefferson totaled 57 tackles and six sacks last season.
Those are very good numbers.
