Congratulations to our Crusaders of the Month for April 2019!

Brother Rice honors one student from each class as Crusader of the Month. To be considered for Crusader of the Month, students must be nominated by a teacher, coach or administrator. In order to qualify, students must show leadership, be in good standing and be involved in activities within Brother Rice High School.

Our Crusaders for the Month of December are Marco Braschi ’19, Kevin Phelan ’20, Willie Shaw ’21 and Griffin Conners ’22.

After playing up on varsity as a freshman at Payton, Brokemond decided to compete in the Hitters Spring League in Wisconsin, which coincided with Illinois’ season.

“I thought the competition was better than in high school and it would allow me to work on my skills,” Brokeman said.

When his family moved after his junior year, Brokemond transferred to Brother Rice and decided to play high school baseball again.

Tearing around the bases on a hard-hit Jack Payton double to left-center field in the bottom of the seventh, Br. Rice senior Kendall Pettis just knew he would score the game-winning run.

Well, that was the plan before a perfect relay nailed him at home to send the game into extra innings.

Track & Field – frosh/soph Catholic League Championship

Yesterday the frosh/soph track and field team competed in the Catholic League Championship at Marmion Academy.  The team placed 7th overall.  Event champions were Eddie Burke in the 3200m run and Nehemiah Ray in the 400m.  Burke also placed 3rd in the 1600 while Ray was 4th in the 200m.  Mikey Corcoran had a strong race taking 3rd in the 800m run.  This Saturday will be the varsity championship at Loyola.
