The track & field team competed in the Thornton Invite on Thursday, February 14. The varsity team placed 2nd (116-110), while the frosh/soph team also placed 2nd (102-101). For the third straight meet, Dan Spellman was the varsity 1600m champion. His time of 4:39, currently ranks him #18 in the state. On Saturday, February 9, the track & field team competed at the Homewood Flossmoor Invite. The Crusaders placed 2nd among five teams. For the second consecutive week, Dan Spellman won the 1600, the only victory for the team. Second place finishes came from Justin Palmer in the high hurdles, Mikey Corcoran in the 600, the 4×800 team of Spellman, Jordan Harris, Alex MacFarlane, and Matt Reidy, as well as the 4×400 team of Palmer, Chase Hall, Charlie Fitzgerald, and Spellman. The team will travel to Thornton on Thursday to compete in the Wildcat Classic. Results

During his varsity career, Br. Rice senior wrestler Dominic Murphy has built an impressive resume with impressive wins and two trips to state.
But with a young Crusaders squad around him this year, Murphy has added another skill to his list of abilities: team leader.
The lone senior of eight Br. Rice wrestlers who advanced to the regional championship or third-place match, Murphy has worked hard to help his younger teammates achieve success.
Murphy won the 170-pound championship on Feb. 2 at the Class-2A Hinsdale South regional. It was Murphy’s third regional title.
