Men of Edmund are called to serve.

To serve the community, the school, and it’s people.

Sean O’Reilly, Class of 2008, answered his call to service at an early age and hasn’t looked back.

Following his time at Rice, Sean attended St. Ambrose University on a basketball scholarship. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, he made the ultimate leap of faith by joining the United States Army in 2013.

O’Reilly served three and a half years as a Cavalry Scout specializing in reconnaissance, stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia. […]

The term “mind over matter” is intriguing.

Do our minds have the ability to negate and persevere through hardships we may endure in the physical world?

For Brendan Coghlan, the answer is yes.

Coghlan, Class of 2018, exemplified the meaning of a true Crusader through dedication to his craft in and out of the classroom. Brendan graduated from Rice at the forefront of the National Honors Society, tallying a 4.64 GPA with an impressive list of extracurriculars. He was a four-year member of the basketball program, a varsity starter his junior and senior years. […]

“ONE AND DONE”: BROTHER RICE JUNIOR MICK ARUNDEL NOTCHES A 36 ON THE ACT

2021-11-01T14:26:33-05:00

Across the nation, only one-tenth of 1 percent of all students who take the ACT test earns the highest possible score of 36, and current Brother Rice High School junior Mick Arundel did so on his first attempt.  The son of Mike and Marla Arundel of Oak Lawn, Mick graduated from St. Catherine of Alexandria before choosing Brother Rice, and he attributes his success to his parents’ support and the preparation he has received at both schools.

“When I was little, my parents pushed me a lot, but now they are more lenient and trust me to take […]

2021-10-28T20:37:36-05:00

By Jack Zampillo ‘18

Can you imagine what it would be like to spend five days underwater? To be in control of a naval aircraft thousands of feet in the sky? Me neither.

For Brian Conlisk, Class of 2016, these extraordinary circumstances are just another day in the office.

Following his time at Rice, Conlisk was accepted into Purdue University’s aerospace engineering program and immediately enrolled into Naval ROTC. He recalls training about 4 times a week, along with learning the ins and outs of what the U.S. Navy expects from those willing to make the sacrifice.

Praying with the Psalms

2021-10-04T15:11:43-05:00

Save me Father

Liam Lyons ‘22

Psalm 69

Save me, God,

    for the waters have reached my neck.

I have sunk into the mire of the deep,

    where there is no foothold.

I have gone down to the watery depths;

    the flood overwhelms me.

I am weary with crying out;

    my throat is parched.

My eyes fail,

    from looking for my God.

More numerous than the hairs of my head
