The team had an amazing 2nd pool run. Alex Novak piloted the ROV beautifully, Mic Arundel was an unflappable leader and captain Peter Connolly devised a device between our first and second attempt that allowed us to complete 3 new tasks that we had never before attempted, without testing or practice! 

On their 2nd attempt the boys bested their first attempt total by 54 points! This was also 40 points better than the total that won the Midwest regional championship with!

For 32 years and counting, we have had an incredible teacher here at Brother Rice. Brother Patrick Hayes is an outstanding physics teacher and, overall, an inspiration to the young men he teaches each day. He is known for his intricate labs and the physics trips for the students that he chaperones.

Mr. Molenda is currently teaching his 40th year at Brother Rice. He became interested in teaching because he wanted to coach. He coached track for 32 years and cross country for 35 years at Brother Rice.

It was very clear that Mr. Molenda loved coaching track and field and cross country during the interview.Mr. Molenda’s favorite memories at Brother Rice were, “Going down state, winning the Catholic League, winning the first regional, and winning the second regional.”

The Brother Rice Esports program is off to a great start in its first year. 

Coordinated by science teacher Mr. Evan Strehlau, the club provides both a competitive and leisurely gaming experience for students looking to further develop their skills while learning how to work as a team and communicate with other players.
