Robotics at the MATE ROV World Championships

2023-06-29T09:12:01-05:00

The team had an amazing 2nd pool run. Alex Novak piloted the ROV beautifully, Mic Arundel was an unflappable leader and captain Peter Connolly devised a device between our first and second attempt that allowed us to complete 3 new tasks that we had never before attempted, without testing or practice!

On their 2nd attempt the boys bested their first attempt total by 54 points! This was also 40 points better than the total that won the Midwest regional championship with!

During the final collaborative challenge Brother Rice’s robot was so capable that a higher ranked team […]

For 32 years and counting, we have had an incredible teacher here at Brother Rice. Brother Patrick Hayes is an outstanding physics teacher and, overall, an inspiration to the young men he teaches each day. He is known for his intricate labs and the physics trips for the students that he chaperones.

Every January during Christmas break, Br. Hayes takes a couple of his students to the Wright Patterson Air Force Base to observe almost every aircraft in existence. They also take a trip down to Florida in the summer to see the Kennedy Space Center and possibly even […]
