After defeating the Mount Carmel Caravan 16-9 on Tuesday, the Crusaders were all set to play them again at home on Thursday.

Winning both games in the series would put Brother Rice in a great spot before playoffs, especially beating a great Carmel team in a great rivalry series. The Crusaders were in need for the sweep.

Senior Miguel Santos said, “It would be awesome if we were able to take down Mount Carmel twice in one week.”

Brother Rice got off to an amazing start, taking a 5-0 lead heading into the second inning. Tadgh Callaghan was able to hold […]

After splitting their regular season series, the Crusaders ended the Caravan’s season last year with a 2-1 walk-off victory in the sectional championship. It’s safe to say that the Caravan were more than ready to get their revenge this year.

Game 1 of the series was on Tuesday, April 25, at Mount Carmel’s Haggerty Field.

2023-03-23T23:19:06-05:00

By Jack Morrison ‘23

In 2019, the talk of Brother Rice getting a new baseball field began. There was much interest surrounding the subject, but other issues around campus had to be tended to first. The north campus parking lot was in desperate need of a makeover. Attention shifted from redoing the baseball field to the makeover of the parking lot.

The parking lot plan was underway and the baseball field talks started up again. Then, Covid-19 hit and halted everything.

“Right before covid hit I heard talks of the baseball field being redone. But since then I haven’t heard much about it. I […]

Sophomore infielder Aiden Nohava said, “Watching last year’s team from the outside, I was eager to start the season up. I know that we did a lot of good things last year, but we didn’t get that state championship.”

The Crusaders finished in third place of 4A state finals last year. They ended with a regular season record of 36-6 and went 16-2 in conference play. Their regular season record was good enough to be named […]

The Standard: BR baseball dominates in Georgia, and I was there to record it all.

In early January, I was looking for the Director of Marketing Mike Glennon. I wanted to borrow his camera for a basketball game that night but he wasn’t in his office. I walked over to Room 100, a.k.a. the room with the giant green screen wall.

There I found Mr. Glennon doing a picture shoot for the baseball team. He needed me to finish taking the pictures because he was running late to his basketball practice. I stayed and finished the photoshoot, and that’s when varsity baseball coach, Coach McBride, mentioned playing against IMG Academy this spring.

“IMG Academy?” I […]
