Shaun graduated from Brother Rice in 1993, where he was a 2-year captain and played for the legendary coach Pat Richardson. He moved his talents to St. Ambrose and continued to strive both on the court and in the classroom. There, he was an Academic All-American. After finishing school, Shaun was involved in various businesses with partners who shared his vision of entrepreneurship.
Shaun had a deep passion for Brother Rice High School, which lead him to form the CAAC (Crusader Alumni Athletic Club). Shaun’s vision was to allow athletes the opportunity to succeed after graduating from either Br. Rice or college with a network of athletes who graduated before them. He wanted to make sure each athlete had an opportunity to succeed in life. The CAAC has raised over $1,100,000 in its 9 years of existence and has helped with various projects throughout the school, as well as helping with expenses to offset costs to the school. Shaun had a commitment to the CAAC and Br Rice that never wavered. He was a true leader and led by example in everything he did. Shaun tragically died at the age of 44.
In his honor, the Shaun Jacob Memorial Scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship, will be offered to two incoming freshman students each year, as well as a $5,000 scholarship to a Varsity Basketball player who emulated Shaun’s ethics and working standards on and off the court.
