On Monday, September 8, the Brother Rice Student Council and the Mother McAuley Student Government gathered together before school for a prayer service commemorating the anniversary of September 11, 2001. Following the prayer, students from both schools planted American flags along Pulaski Road and 99th Street, creating a powerful visual tribute of unity and remembrance. The flags remained lining both campuses throughout the week, serving as a daily reminder of the lives lost and the strength of our nation.
The remembrance continued later in the week as the Brother Rice Student Council hosted a USA-themed dress down day on Wednesday, September 11. Proceeds from the event supported Tuesday’s Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing long-term healing for families impacted by 9/11, as well as communities affected by terrorism, military conflict, and mass violence.
Student Council had set a goal of raising $1,200 for the cause. Thanks to the generosity of the Brother Rice community, the event exceeded expectations, raising a total of $1,253.
Through prayer, service, and fundraising, the Brother Rice students came together to honor the legacy of 9/11 while supporting an organization that continues to bring hope and healing to families and communities in need.
