The Brother Rice Oral History Project

Brother Rice has launched a new initiative, the Oral History Project, to collect and preserve stories from our alumni. These stories shape our history, and we want to ensure they are documented and shared with future generations of Crusaders. As we approach 70 exceptional years of Brother Rice history, this special initiative will capture the incredible experiences that define our BRotherhood. With a proud network of over 20,000 alumni, this is your opportunity to be part of our legacy and ensure the spirit of Brother Rice endures for years to come.

We have partnered with Publishing Concepts (PCI)—a trusted, 100-year-old, family-owned business that has worked with Brother Rice for years to provide alumni directories. PCI produces publications for hundreds of colleges, universities, high schools, Greek organizations, and military and veteran associations.

Through this project, alumni stories and photos will be collected, transcribed, and stored in a digital vault. These stories will then be compiled into a professionally published book, available for purchase in both hardbound, coffee-table style and digital formats.

* This is not a fundraiser for Brother Rice. All proceeds from sales go to PCI.

Beyond preserving our history, this initiative also helps us update alumni contact information, allowing us to better connect with and serve our nearly 20,000 alumni. Since reaching out to thousands of alumni is a time-intensive process, PCI assists us in ensuring we have the most up-to-date information possible.

Data Security & PCI Partnership

We want to assure our alumni that Publishing Concepts is a trusted partner and PCI DSS compliant, meaning they undergo regular security audits to ensure your data is protected. Your information is only used for the Oral History Project and is removed from their systems once any updated contact details are shared with us.

1. I received an email, postcard, or phone call asking for my personal information and a story about Brother Rice. What is this about?

We have partnered with PCI (Publishing Concepts, Inc.) to produce an Oral History Publication for Brother Rice High School. PCI, a family-owned business based in Dallas, TX, has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations for over 100 years.

This project allows us to collect and share alumni experiences about their time at Brother Rice and how the school has shaped their lives. While on the phone, PCI representatives will also verify and update your contact information.

2. How does Brother Rice benefit from this project?

Brother Rice gains several key benefits:

  • Updated Contact Information – Allows us to effectively communicate with and engage our alumni.
  • Legacy Preservation – Collecting and sharing stories ensures the history of Brother Rice is preserved.

3. How do I know my information will only be used for the Oral History Project?

PCI is committed to protecting your privacy. The names, addresses, and information provided for the Oral History Project are kept confidential and used only for this project. Once the project is complete, PCI will remove all personal information from its systems. They will only retain the stories and photos for the publication.

4. How can I verify or update my information and share a story?

  • If you received a postcard or email with a phone number, call that number to speak with a dedicated representative who will verify your information and collect your story.
  • If you received an email with an embedded link, you can review your information and submit your story online. 

5. Can I choose what information appears in the publication?

Yes! The only details printed in the publication are:

  • Your name
  • Your class year
  • Your story and photo (if submitted) 

No contact information is included. If you wish to remove your story or photo, you can do so before the publication is finalized by contacting PCI at 1-800-982-1590 or PCIService@publishingconcepts.com.

6. I updated my information, but I need more time to think about my story. What should I do?

You can call back at any time before the project deadline to share your story.

7. I shared my story and was told I could send a photo. How do I do this?

  • After submitting your story, you will receive an email with a link to upload one photo (black and white or color) along with a caption.
  • If you purchased a book but do not have an email on file, PCI will send you a photo mailer to submit a physical photo. (If you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, PCI will return your photo.) 

8. Can anyone purchase the book?

The Brother Rice Oral History Publication is available only to Brother Rice alumni.

9. I ordered a book/package, but would like to cancel. How do I do this?

To cancel your order, contact PCI’s customer service helpdesk at 1-800-982-1590.
