The 1956 Club honors the legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice, whose life of compassion and service continues to inspire the mission of Brother Rice High School. Rooted in his charism and guided by his example of recognizing the dignity of every person as a child of God, The 1956 Club was established to recognize the many friends and alumni who, through their generous contributions, have helped secure Brother Rice’s future.
Members of The 1956 Club receive special recognition, including:

By giving through your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), or other retirement assets, you can support the future of Brother Rice in a meaningful and tax-efficient way.
How You Can Give Through Your Retirement Plans:
- Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you are 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $105,000 annually from your IRA directly to Brother Rice. This gift counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) but is excluded from taxable income, offering significant tax benefits.
- Bequests of Retirement Assets: Naming Brother Rice as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement plan is one of the simplest ways to make a transformational gift while reducing estate taxes for your heirs.
Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs): A CRT allows you to receive lifetime income from your retirement assets while leaving the remainder to Brother Rice, securing both your future and the school’s.
