The Brother Rice baseball team lost their first game against an Illinois team last week. Losing 6-4 against Catholic League rival Mount Carmel. The Crusaders became 18-3 on the season after the loss.

Brother Rice and Mount Carmel have always been huge rivals in every sport. No matter the stakes, it will always be a tough and gritty game.

The day after their first loss to Mount Carmel, the Crusaders bounced back with a 15-4 victory against Mount Carmel at their home field.

Brother Rice rugby is finally back in the mix this year. For the first time since 2019, the team is able to compete for a spot in the playoffs.

The Standard: Brother Rice Wrestling Claims another Regional Championship

The Brother Rice matmen have claimed yet another regional championship resulting in back to back regional championships. Winning regionals was huge for Brother Rice as they have a lot of wrestlers who also qualified for state.

Multiple wrestlers qualified for state for Brother Rice this year. Winning the regional championship was only the start for something bigger.

Many hard fought matches were won by the Crusaders. Nine wrestlers from Rice qualified for state. This is absolutely huge for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders finished their season off with a record of 10-3. Losing in the semifinals to a stellar Wheaton North team who would go to win state.

Coach Brian Badke coached his last game at Brother Rice and will go down in history at Brother Rice. The Crusaders had an amazing season, finishing this entire year with a 14-5 record and playing six games in the spring, finishing with a record of 4-2.

The Crusaders were down early in the first quarter on a two play touchdown drive by the Redhawks. The Redhawks scored twice in a row, outscoring Brother Rice 14-0 in the first quarter.

At the start of the second quarter, the Crusaders had a new mindset and lit the fire. The offense made some great plays and the defense made some stops.
