This past Thursday, the 2024 NFL draft was under way. The Chicago Bears were looking good with two picks in the first round, the first overall and the ninth overall picks.

Going into the draft, the Bears were favored to pick quarterback Caleb Williams number one overall, and they did. Caleb is one of the most polished and impressive players in the draft.

This past March Madness was different. For the first time ever, the people weren’t just focused on the men’s tournament, but the women’s tournament was a big hit, too.

Something that really got the people involved this year was Iowa’s star point guard Caitlin Clark.

The Standard: The Crusaders take on Thornton in the IHSA Class 3A Sectional Championship

On Friday, March 2, the Crusaders traveled to Thornton High School in Harvey to play Thornton in the IHSA Class 3A Sectional Championship.

Before the game started, everyone knew it was going to be a good game. The line getting into the game alone took around 20 minutes to get into the gym. The gym was packed, one side with Thornton fans, while the Crusader fans sat across the gym.

Despite Thornton not being very close to home, the Crazies were out in full force ready to cheer on the Crusaders.

The Mother Son Dance is always something to look forward to with all the music, food, and dancing.

The dance was also a good event for the kids to get out and socialize with friends outside of the classroom.

As the NFL season is winding down, one thing is for sure. The Chicago Bears will go yet another season below 500 while not making the playoffs.

Senior Ryan Hartz said, “It’s really frustrating turning the Bears game on and just watching loss after loss. It really is demoralizing to watch.”

The Bears are currently going into week 12 with a record of 4-8, and are arguably the worst team in the NFL. The Bears were the worst team in the NFL finishing the 2022-2023 season.

After an exciting super sectional game for the Crusader soccer team, they sadly fell short to the tough Peoria Notre Dame soccer team.

The Brother Rice soccer team finished with an impressive 19 wins, 4 losses, and 2 ties. The Crusaders also finished with a regional and a sectional championship.

The Brother Rice kicking Crusaders are on fire as they clinched the number one seed in the class 2A Lemont Sectional.

After what seemed like another long season, everyone was set on the Crusaders finishing at the bottom of the tables once again, but something was different. The Crusaders kept winning.
