I am unsure if it is because of my teachers, schedule, or classmates, but Brother Rice has been and always will be a home for me.

The beginning of senior year is no walk in the park. Listen to what Mr. Creed and all the other counselors tell you about the common app, transcripts, and deadlines.

Finding time to sit down and complete my applications was very difficult considering I participated in a sport that had about three hour practices […]

The Standard: King of the Curds

Every area in the United States is known for some kind of food. Our home, Chicago, is known for deep dish pizza. New York City is known for thin crust pizza. But Wisconsin is known for something special – the cheese curd.

The cheese curd is the most wonderful appetizer, or side, that can accompany almost any Midwest entrée. It starts with a diced piece of cheese fried or breaded. The cheddar or american cheese melts inside to create a gooey surprise.

I traveled to local restaurants in the Chicago area picking up cheese curds to try.

How much does your mom do for you? On Saturday Jan. 20, the Brother Rice Dad’s club gave sons the chance to show their love for their mothers. Moms and their sons danced the night away with a fun night filled with dancing and great music.

Most couples started the night with a meal at Baraccos, Palermo’s, or they kept it simple and hosted a before party.

Student and loving son, Patrick McGann, hosted a before party with pizza and wings. McGann said, “I think my mom deserved a little time to mingle with other moms before the dance, so […]
