My senior year at Brother Rice definitely was not how I expected it to be. I quickly learned that it is only a myth that “you do nothing your senior year.” I had been told my entire life how easy senior year was and I guess I overestimated how much work I’d still be doing. After only the first few weeks of school, I was ready to be done.

Despite all the unexpected schoolwork I was doing, I had a great schedule my senior year. I was in classes with a lot of my friends and I got all […]

The NBA regular season has wrapped up, and it looks like some exciting playoffs are here. This season is unlike the past few. There is not one clear champion like there has been for a long time with the superteam era.

Senior Brendan McCarthy said, “I’m really looking forward to watching these playoff games; there hasn’t been any exciting basketball since March Madness.”

The top teams this season have been the Bucks, Celtics, Nuggets, and Grizzlies. The Warriors, Heat, and Lakers are some sleeper teams to look out for.

Senior Jack Brouder said,“I think the Heat are a team to really […]

Over the past few months, there have been a handful of stories released about some of the nation’s top athletes getting in serious trouble. The most notable incident involved NBA superstar Ja Morant.

Morant is arguably the best young player in the NBA and is on track to becoming the next face of the league. That is, of course, if he can stay out of trouble.

Morant has been involved in two incidents over the past month that really put his character into question. Just days after a story came out about Morant punching a 17-year-old over a basketball game, […]

Last Friday, the sophomores at Brother Rice completed their annual sophomore retreat. This is always a great opportunity for sophomores to connect with one another and strengthen their faith.

Senior Brendan McCarthy said, “It’s great that they do this retreat every year. It can be a real eye opener for some sophomores.”

The students on the retreat spent the day partaking in various activities meant to strengthen their bonds with one another.

Senior Bill Reardon said, “This retreat is a great chance for the students to get to know each other better and create bonds with different people.”

On January 2, what was an average Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills took an abrupt turn.

Bills safety Damar Hamlin collided with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins to make the tackle. When Hamlin stood up after the play, he went into cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field.

Luckily Denny Kellington, a member of the Bills medical staff acted quickly and performed life saving CPR on Hamlin. An ambulance was rushed onto the field and took Hamlin to the hospital

Senior Ben McMurray said, “It’s great that the medical team was able to act so […]

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Brother Rice held its annual Veterans Day prayer service. Brother Rice hosts this prayer service every year to honor and remember all the brave men and women who have served for this country.

The next event to take place was the saying of petitions, led by peer ministers Kevin Lufrano and Ben McMurray.

The students of Brother Rice kicked off the homecoming pep rally by lining the hallways as the Crusader band marched toward the gym.

Band member Alex Cichowicz said, “Walking down the halls for the pep rally each year is just a great experience seeing everyone getting hype and ready for the big homecoming game and dance.”

Once we got to the gym, we were shocked to see a giant wrestling ring set up in the center surrounded by the members of the football team.

Mr. Creed credited all the fall sport teams for their success; this created uproar throughout the stands. […]

Everyone in the Brother Rice community knows about the man behind the camera. At every sporting event last year, he was either taking pictures, broadcasting in his bright orange jacket, or playing defense for the lacrosse team. Jacob “Wiz” Wizgird ‘22 began to churn out content at the beginning of the football season last year, and it only got better with time.

Wizgird’s passion for videography and photography began in the BRTV club. He was able to cover the game from a different angle and started to realize how cool sports were, especially on 99th and Pulaski.

Wizgird had the […]
