One thing I’ve always admired about Paul McCartney is how much he embraces new generations of music. McCartney has collaborated with everyone from Michael Jackson to Kanye West and Rihanna. The former Beatle has managed to adjust to the ever changing music industry since the 1960s, but he doesn’t change his style to fit in. Rather, he sees what he likes and adds it to his repertoire.

“McCartney III Imagined” is comprised of songs from his last album “McCartney III,” “reimagined” by different artists. Instead of simply doing covers or remixes, McCartney had the artists reinterpret the songs themselves. […]

The Standard: Illinois Shocks Michigan in Top 5 Matchup

Last week, No. 4 Illinois faced off against No. 2 Michigan in a battle of the Big Ten’s best. With all the odds against the Illini, it’s hard to believe anyone would have predicted the outcome.

Illinois came into Michigan’s home court and absolutely routed them by a final score of 76-53. In addition to being on the road, they were missing All-American point guard, Ayo Dosunmu. Still, with the chips stacked against them, all of the pieces seemed to fall into place for the Illini on Tuesday.

The leadership of the Illinois guards was critical to allow the team […]

The Standard: College Basketball Recap

The college basketball season is about halfway through so it’s time to start looking forward to the postseason.

First, we’ll take a look at the top of the standings. The top five have been pretty stagnant for most of the season. Gonzaga and Baylor remain undefeated as they continue to dominate the league. Watching Gonzaga play, it’s easy to see why they hold the top spot. They are one of the most well-rounded teams I’ve seen in a long time. They play great team basketball and they do absolutely everything well.

Villanova and Texas sit at 3 and 4 respectively. […]

We’re just past the halfway point of the NFL season, and the road for the Chicago Bears is starting to get a little bit bumpy.

After a strong 5-1 start, the Bears have dropped their last three games. If there’s one thing that Bears fans have gotten used to, it’s unpredictability. Sometimes that’s a good thing. Sometimes it’s a bad thing. Right now it’s definitely a bad thin

The Bears’ quarterback problems are still far from being solved. Mitch Trubisky is out for the time being with a shoulder injury and Nick Foles is just not cutting it. If you […]

The Standard: NBA Finals Recap

2020-10-15T23:21:39-05:00

It’s weird talking about the end of the NBA season in October instead of getting ready for a new one, yet here we are. On Sunday, Oct. 11, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in a six game series to win the NBA championship.

The Lakers are now tied with the Boston Celtics for the most NBA championships in the league’s history with 17.

The Heat were the clear underdog of the series. They’ve got a lot of young talent, but they lack the experience that most championship teams possess. That didn’t stop them throughout the rest of […]
