When I think back on my four years at Rice, I mostly think about all the times I have been crying laughing in my classroom seat and all the funny moments I had here. I am glad that as my years went by, everyone became much better friends and going to school got more and more fun every day.

By far my favorite part at Rice was the Crusader Crazies. When I was in grammar school, I would always look at the student section and think to myself how badly I wanted to be in it. They looked like […]

Brother Rice lacrosse has had a shaky season so far with some bad losses to worse teams. There is a consistent theme to all of their games; a slow first half but fighting to stay in the game during the second half.

The previous three games have all ended in losses. In arguably the worst loss of the season, the Crusaders were defeated 14-4 against Hillcrest, with most of the Crusader goals coming in the final quarter.

“We were not ready to play after spring break at all,” said senior Timmy Gavin. “We were super rusty and we paid the […]

Brother Rice lacrosse has started their season off strong with an early win against Kenwood Academy on Tuesday, March 13. The final score read 6-4 Crusaders, with the game being extremely close in the fourth quarter after the Broncos came back from a deficit to keep the game alive.

Quick to score for the Crusaders in the first period was senior and captain Gavin Ward. About two minutes after taking their 1-0 lead, Ward scored once again with a 20-yard snipe.

“For some reason the defense was giving me way too much space,” said Ward. “I just decided to wind […]

The exact middle of the NBA season is soon approaching with the fan-favorite NBA All-Star game to be played soon. What used to be a boring exhibition game has recently changed into a real, competitive game with hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line.

The NBA recently changed the rules of the All-Star game by allowing each team to choose a charity of their choice and donating $100,000 to the team that wins each quarter, and $500,000 to the team that wins the entire game. With close to a million dollars on the line for charity, the players […]

The Brother Rice hockey team is on the rise in the CCHL, the Chicago Catholic Hockey League, with the recent 1-1 tie against Providence Catholic. The Crusaders have been playing well all season, with a winning record at 4-2-1.

Providence, who is 8-5-1, is currently in second place in the league, only behind the 9-1 Benet Redwings. Dec. 5 saw the second meeting of Rice and Providence, and this time was as exciting as the first. The Crusaders fought hard to get their revenge after the 1-0 loss earlier in the season and continue to climb the season standings.

If you drove to the biggest rivalry football game on the South Side of Chicago on Friday, Sept. 22, then you likely saw the army of Crusaders biking their way to 115th Street. If you did not directly see it, you may have felt it in the traffic jam it created. The students were dressed in different Halloween costumes to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

The Crusader Crazies have been active all year, attending games and easily taking space in the opponents’ heads with various chants. This night was no different. The cheers only got louder and louder as Jimmy […]
