The 2024 school year finally comes to a close after months of waiting around for the seniors. For me, I could not wait to leave.

My senior year started during the summer with 5 a.m. workouts for football almost every single day. Some will say that I wasted my summer, however, if I could, I would do it all over again.

On April 24, CBS News made their way down to 99th and Pulaski to cover the food drive taking place at Brother Rice.

The Brother Rice community participated in the United Way April Food Day food drive. Students that are a part of NHS and Brother Rice TV all helped transport food onto the United Way trolly.

United Way is a nonprofit organization that aims to build up struggling communities. One of their biggest ways they help communities is food drives.

The 2024 Brother Rice Stock Market Challenge kicked off on Friday, Feb. 2. This is a chance for kids that take finance classes, or anyone who has interest in stocks, to show off their investment skills.

This is the second year the Investment Club has run the event, and there is almost double the amount of kids this year. There are 364 Crusaders in the challenge, and the number grows every day.

One of the best traditions that comes with Thanksgiving is Turkey Bowls. The Crusaders held their annual Turkey Bowl last Thursday, Nov. 16.

There was a great showing, with 21 teams; however, only one team came out on top. This year’s champion was Team Callaghan.

The championship game kicked off under the lights after a long day of games. It was a triple overtime thriller, ending in a Ryan Hartz touchdown pass to Chris Daugherty.

Team Callaghan consisted of only Brother Rice baseball players.

The football season has already passed the halfway point, and that means homecoming is here! This year, the Crusader homecoming theme is the 90s.

Student Council President Seamus Hanley said, “We wanted to come up with something that was original. Something not a lot of people have done before.”

This year’s homecoming falls on Oct. 14, after the football team faces off against the Montini Broncos.
