When I was finishing 8th grade, everyone told me high school would go by “in the blink of an eye”. I believed that it’d fly by, but not as fast it did.

I feel like just yesterday I was suiting up to play a freshman football game. Now, I’m a captain of the track team. I’m graduating now, and I don’t know where the time went.

Aside from having a great time and making friends that will last a lifetime, Brother Rice has taught me many things. After going on this recent trip to Peru, I’ve learned how to live […]

On Friday, the track and field team was split in half for the 5th Annual Crusader Duel. Captains Julius Lujano and Jack Antonson of Team J squared off against captains Sean Maloney and Sean McNally of Team SM.

On Wednesday, the captains split and drafted their teams. A lot of trash talk occurred in the week leading up to the meet.

“We’re by far the more athletic team. The result won’t end up being close,” said Rory Cusack ‘23.

Members of Team J felt a little different. Boasting the top athletes in the shot, pole vault, and hurdles, Team J thought […]

The NFL Playoffs have been exciting so far. This past weekend was no different.

On Sunday, the final four teams left in the playoffs squared off for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. In the AFC Championship, the Chiefs hosted the Bengals. And in the NFC Championship, the Rams hosted the 49ers.

Midway through the AFC Championship, the Chiefs led the Bengals 21-10. It looked like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce would take care of business in the second half and put the game out of reach. However, Joe Burrow started to get hot.

“Joe Burrow is a phenomenal […]

“Kairos was something I never thought I needed. It was an amazing experience from the very first day I entered to the last,” said senior Alejandro Macias.

Last week, some students took part in Kairos 157. The retreat began on Wednesday, and the group returned home on Friday. Senior Nelson Lopez raved about his time on the retreat.

“K157 has changed my life and helped me become close with many others. I implore others to try it,” said Lopez.

After going for the first time this past year, Nelson hopes to lead a future Kairos retreat. Senior Manny Flores received that […]

In week 7 of the Illinois high school football season, powerhouses Brother Rice and Joliet Catholic met on the gridiron on Chicago’s south side. Brother Rice entered the game ranked #2 in the Chicago area by the Chicago Sun-Times, while JCA entered ranked #3.

Both schools boasted electric offenses with Division 1 players. The game was projected to be high scoring, and those projections were spot on.

Just minutes into the game, Rice struck first on a 5-yard touchdown scamper from Aaron Vaughn. Following the touchdown run and PAT, kicker Jack Welniak kicked an onside kick and recovered it himself. […]
