On Monday, Sept. 8, Brother Rice launched Club Hub, a brand new way to get involved, leaving Crusaders with feelings of excitement and anticipation.
Club Hub is an online platform for high schools to promote and organize their student activities, giving an easy way for organizations to plan and communicate.
The school hopes the introduction of the program will boost club engagement by putting everything you need in one place. Rice’s goal is to close the gap between the 91% of students involved in sports and a club and the 56% involved in a club, especially among lower classmen.
Brother Rice chose Club Hub for their close relationship with the founder of the platform: Ilan Peuterman, a recent University of Chicago grad. This connection strengthens the influence that Rice has for introduction of new features and quickly resolving any issues that may arise.
“We’re not dealing with a giant company, but we’re dealing with the owner of it” said Mr. Prunckle, Dean of Student Life.
Club Hub provides club moderators with tools to easily schedule events, manage members, and set schedules in a quick and organized way.
“I think it’s really nice … to be able to store all the club information and all the meetings in one place for students.” said faculty advisor for the Robotics Team Mr. Van Dyke. “It’ll definitely help us be more organized and efficient.”
However, this sentiment isn’t shared by everybody. Some staff members feel that the increased regulation and oversight will lead to less attendance in their clubs. Despite this, leadership is confident in their decision, hoping to have every club onboarded by October 1.
Why should you get on Club Hub? Joining clubs and being involved in extracurricular activities make school more fun and look great on college applications, and now it is easier than ever to sign up.
