Even with 2019 long gone, one thing still needs to be wrapped up. Everyone still needs to reflect on how good of a year 2019 was for music, and what better way is there to do that than the Grammys?
The Grammys had no shortage of new faces this year, boasting the attendance of both Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X, two stars who found astounding success in 2019.
Eilish’s talent even managed to win her the coveted best new artist award. She raked in plenty of other awards as well, including album of the year, song of the year, and best pop vocal album.
The Grammys were littered with amazing performances as well. Amazingly talented artists went all out this year with things like Alicia Keys’ beautiful tribute to Kobe Bryant, Tyler, The Creators spectacular stage, and Lil Nas X’s fantastic show for “Old Town Road.”
The best rap album award notably had a heavy amount of competition for the award with outstanding albums such as Dreamville’s “Revenge of the Dreamers III,” Tyler’s “IGOR,” and YBN Cordae’s “The Lost Boy” all being nominated.
Tyler’s IGOR pulled through in the end though, earning Tyler the rap album of the year award. This came as no surprise considering the impressive tracklist the album has to offer.
The Grammys are about more than just the music, too. There was an amazing sense of community, moving speeches, and of course the pre-show red carpet.
Not to mention there was … whatever Billy Porter was wearing too.
All jokes aside, the 2020 Grammys were a huge success, they perfectly wrapped up 2019’s year of music and brought together an awesome collection of talented people.
