Cramped into a somewhat packed red line train, four seniors made the trip to the historic Wrigley field for a day of fun. Seniors Brady Gomez, Max Griffin, Jake Williams, and I started our trip driving to the 103rd street metro stop.
After just two stops, about a dozen other seniors hopped on the train. We sat up top and enjoyed the views of the city for the short ride. When we got to the final stop at LaSalle Street Station, we voted to take a little walk around the city.
Walking midday in the city was hectic, especially walking though the DePaul campus. Senior Brady Gomez blurted, ¨ I am not paying 20 bucks for a hot dog.¨ We all agreed and stopped at a busy Chipotle. We ate our food and kept moving, walking east towards the lake.
The views of the lake and the towering buildings were unmatched as always. Finally, we decided to make our way to the Lake Street Red Line Station. We didn’t wait long to get on the train. It was only a few stops to get to Wrigley and the train was full of fans from both teams.
We walked one block to get into the field after getting off at the Addison Street Station. The game went by quickly with the Cubs walking it off in the tenth inning.
Senior Max Griffin said ¨The game was boring till the very end.¨
On our way out we talked to a security guard who said, ¨Go to Culver’s; get a burger.” The statement has become legendary between the four of us for no reason. We did go to Culvers but we didn’t get a burger.
When we reentered the stadium and watched the Crusaders win 4-1. We made the same exact trip back home. It was a great trip and doing it with a group of friends made it way more fun.
