My senior year at Brother Rice has been more than eventful.
I found out during Christmas break of 2018 that I received the Chick Evans Scholarship. This news brought a huge shock to me because I really couldn’t believe it. When I returned to school after break, I was so excited to talk to all of my friends about it. Consequently, I didn’t have much time to do so.
Upon return to school from break, I became ill with pneumonia and the flu, which resulted in kidney damage. I missed over a month of school, and when I came back, I was nervous. Thinking about the fact that I had to make up so much schoolwork was daunting.
I had so much work to make up and I didn’t even know where to start. However, thanks to the faculty at Brother Rice, the makeup process was not as terrible as imagined. I consulted with my teachers and counselor in a meeting about how to address this matter. All teachers heard me out and were considerate of my tight situation. My counselor, following the meeting, put together an organized plan together to complete all of my missed work.
It took a while, but I eventually finished. Without the aid of my counselor and teachers at Rice, I would not have been able to do it. My teachers, along with my counselor, have been some of my best friends at Rice.
This fall I will be attending the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and studying finance and economics.
