Leading up to Friday’s game the Crusaders are an impressive 17-1 with their only loss in a heartbreaking game in the championship of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by the Hinsdale Central Red Devils, 52-51.
The Crusaders placed second overall in the tournament against some of the best teams in the state.
Senior guard Jack Weigus said, “The Hinsdale tournament was a good learning experience for myself and the team. We didn’t play to the best of our abilities, but it gives us something to build on and improve in practice.” Weigus also was named to the All-Tournament Team for his outstanding play.
Senior guard Max Justic played well in the tournament with several key stops and critical shots when the team needed him.
Justic said, “I knew I could play to the best of my abilities with all my fellow teammates having my back. All my shots and defense are thanks to them having my back offensively and defensively.”
The Crusaders continue to strive for greatness and are looking for a trip down state. They are already back on the right track, by beating Perspectives 75-52, De La Salle 52-43, Lincoln-Way East 56-48, and Providence Catholic 69-29.
Senior forward Caden Workman said, “It felt great to get back on track these past few days with multiple wins. Hopefully we can go on another long run like we did at the start of the season.”
These wins will hopefully help boost the boys’ morale and give the team the momentum they need to keep succeeding.
