On Wednesday, Jan. 14, the Crusaders took on the St. Laurence Vikings in a crosstown battle. After a loss to St. Laurence in the championship of the Hinsdale Classic, this was a much-needed win for the Crusaders.
“The practices leading up to games were intense, but we are ready to come out with the win,” said senior captain Charlie Wizgird. The Crusaders came out strong and ended with a 64-47 victory over the Vikings.
Junior forward Adam McBrearty led the Crusaders with a career-high 21 points, 19 of which came in the second half. “I knew we needed this win, and I was willing to give everything I had,” McBearty said.
Both Aiden Henderson ‘27 and Joe Niego ‘26 each chipped in 16 points for the Crusader offense. The defense played a key role, holding the Vikings to only eight points in the third quarter. “The entire team was locked in from start to finish and we were playing as a unit,” said senior forward Joe Niego.
The Crusaders basketball program completed a sweep on all levels. The Crusaders returned to action against Loyola Ramblers on Jan. 16, where they fell 41-38.
