Brother’s Robotics Team has been hard at work in preparing for their regional MATE ROV competition.

While waiting for the competition specifics, the team spent the bulk of the first semester creating the base for their robot. They wrapped up over winter break with their first successful pool test. All the ideas and input from the previous season had the whole summer to bubble over and become new ones.

“Its important we get a strong base … so we don’t waste time when it counts.”  said club manager Mr. Van Dyke.

Their quick success in finishing the fundamentals lets them put more focus on creating specific modifications and tools to complete more complex tasks in their upcoming competition run.

Following the release of the competition details the first week of the new year, the team quickly brainstormed and prototyped ways to complete specific tasks – something the team was excited about.

Nathan Sears ‘26, a three-year member of the club, said, “Now is when we get to the fun parts. Making the frame is fun, but I’m looking forward to getting an idea of how we’ll actually do in competition.”

In addition to the progress on the main robots, the team’s vertical profiling float, VESCO, is also coming along nicely. The lead on the project, Dominic Lanuti ‘26 said, “VESCO is two years in the making… We’ve made a lot more progress than this time last year.”

BR Robotics is looking forward to topping their 2nd place in regionals and 21st internationally this year. Good luck, Crusaders!
