On Monday, Nov. 3, Brother Rice hosted its second open house of the year. More than 100 families from all around the area came to visit and see for themselves what Brother Rice is all about.
Luke Makuch, an eighth grader at Jerling Junior High, “I really liked how they treated us. I had a great experience…I loved the broadcasting and I loved the brotherhood even more.”
Families were given tours by Brother Rice’s National Honor Society members. These young men brought families from room to room, where they were given information about each class. Tables were lined up all around the halls with different classes, extracurriculars, etc.
Senior Jack Makuch, NHS member, said, “It’s an honor to give tours of a school that’s been my second home. My experience at Brother Rice has been nothing short of amazing. I hope the incoming freshmen have as great of an experience that I had.”
At the end of the tour, families visited all of the sports and clubs at Brother Rice. They were then provided with beverages and popcorn and were even given some Brother Rice memorabilia.
Ms. Bolster, NHS Advisor, said, “It is very rewarding to see NHS members giving back … and supporting the Brother Rice community. These members are dedicated to the mission of Edmund Rice, so we hope this reached the hearts of the prospective families that visited that day.”
