I walked into school on Friday, Jan. 17, amped up for a three-day weekend, knowing there was no school on Monday. There was a noticeable excitement in the building among the students.
There was a lot of chatter about a potential off-day on Tuesday, Jan. 21, the day that BR was supposed to resume classes.
“It’s going to be -5 degrees on Tuesday; no way we have school,” senior JD Maloney said. When the students would talk to the teachers if they know about a potential off-day, they would reassure that we will be going to school. They were wrong.
On Monday afternoon, my mom told me the good news: “No school tomorrow!” I was very happy to hear this, so I hopped on my Xbox and played video games all night long. What I did not realize was that I had to complete six different E-learning assignments the next day.
I dragged myself out of bed a lot later than I should have, and I checked my phone to see my friends texting about the E-Learning assignments. What? It hit me right there that I have to lock in and complete all of this work by 3:00 p.m. I was in for a treat.
It took me over two hours of constant work to complete all of my assignments. Senior Marcos Gonzales said, “Mrs. Pacetti’s assignment definitely took the longest to finish. I really wish she didn’t give us a writing prompt!”
“The four day weekend was a great mental reset,” senior Zach Mikrut said. “It was a much needed mini-break.”
I took a big sigh of relief when I finally turned in my last assignment. It felt like a great time to get a breath of fresh air and take my dogs out for a walk. When I opened my front door in just a sweatshirt and pants, I remembered why there was no school.
