The NFL season is coming to an end. The final four teams in the playoffs played very well on Sunday January 24, 2021.

The final four teams were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and the Green Bay Packers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship game, and the Kansas City Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game.

The first game on Sunday was the NFC championship between the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay came up on top, winning with a score of 31-26 led by quarterback Tom Brady who threw for three touchdowns and 280 yards. In addition Tampa Bay’s defense earned five sacks and one interception.

The Packers played well, too, with QB Aaron Rodgers throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Also, their defense got one sack with three interceptions.

Kyle Gallagher ‘21 said, “I am happy the Buccaneers won because this lets Tom Brady have one more Super Bowl appearance at 43 years old. Now they will have a tough game in two weeks against the Kansas City Chiefs, the best team in the NFL. I believe they have a chance because they have a good receiving core and an amazing defense, and beating the Green Bay Packers just showed they will be playing very well.”

The other game was the AFC championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Kansas City came up on top winning 38-24, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes who passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns. The defense performed well, earning four sacks and one interception.

The Buffalo Bills QB, Josh Allen, passed for 287 yards and two touchdowns. Also, the defense got one sack. They gave the Chiefs a fight to advance, and the Chiefs were ready to play.

Sean Deane ‘21 said, “It was an upsetting loss for the Bills because they looked like a Super Bowl team this year. They made massive changes over the years, so I think they will make the Super Bowl in the next two years. I am happy for the Chiefs and I wish them luck in the Super Bowl.”

George Navarro ‘21 said, “Overall, both games showed four teams ready to play but only two will advance to the Super Bowl. These two teams are ready to play the other team and this Super Bowl will be a great one to watch. The Chiefs won last year against the 49ers and the Buccaneers only have one Super Bowl win in 2003.”

This weekend for the NFL was very energetic with these two games playing because bothe stadiums had a lot of fans even due to COVID regulations. These games didn’t disappoint and they showed the fans that these two Super Bowl contenders are ready to play each other.
