On Monday, March 16, the Crusaders traveled to Las Vegas for the nationally ranked Bishop Gorman Invitational tournament. Sixteen nationally ranked teams from Utah, Florida, Illinois, California, Nevada, Canada, North Carolina, and Idaho participated.
The tournament included Bishop Gorman, Bishop Verot, Crimson Cliffs, Centennial, Faith Lutheran, Mountain Vista, Santa Margarita, Stoneman Douglas, American Fork, Berkeley Prep, Christopher Columbus, Gahr, Middleton, Vauxhall, T.C. Roberson, and Brother Rice according to Maxpreps.com.
Bishop Verot and Stoneman Douglas both finished 3-1 over the week. Berkeley Prep finished undefeated 4-0, winning the tournament beating Stoneman Douglas 12-2 in the championship.
The Crusaders finished 1-3, but featured strong performances in the 6-1 victory over Faith Lutheran. Senior pitcher Braydon McKendrick allowed one run over 4.2 innings, while juniors Brady Cunningham went 2-3 and Gavin Stanislawski went 2-4.
