On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Crusaders placed second in the regional final at Old Oak Country Club. The team’s overall score came out to be 331, five points short of first place. Junior Matt Hynes led the Crusaders with a third place finish overall. Seniors Thor Hock and Patrick Hermanson also chipped in, taking fourth and sixth, respectively.
Senior Captain Thor Hock said, “It felt good that we made it as a team, although we wish we would have finished off with a regional win.”
The Crusaders did not win the regional championship, but with a top three finish, they punched their ticket into the sectional championship. This is the second year in a row that the Crusaders have made it to the sectionals.
Other contributions were made by seniors Kevin McShane and Ryne Shields, as well as junior Jack Singler.
“I was striking the ball very well but struggled on the putting greens,” Kevin McShane said. “I hope to limit the three-putts as we approach the sectionals.”
The sectional championship is on Monday, Oct. 7, at Wedgewood Golf Club. Good luck Crusaders!
