Brother Rice had a fun week due to it being homecoming week. For homecoming, the school had a spirit week letting students dress out of uniform and had activities during lunch periods. This allowed the students to have a little fun during the week, with their homecoming dance coming up.
The activities this year were far-better than the activities had in previous years. Each day was something different including bouncy house dodgeball and a basketball game with multiple hoops. There was also a game where two people would balance on a circle, trying to hit each other off. The best activity had to be bouncy house dodgeball.
Each day there was a different theme for what to wear. On Monday, there was a roll-out-of-bed day, letting students come to school in their pajamas. Then, Brother Rice celebrated decades day, which included clothes from several decades of the past. On Wednesday, swimsuits and towels were encouraged to be worn for beach day. Thursday’s dress down day was jersey day to see students’ favorite teams. Finally, on Friday, Brother Rice had a “Rice Pride” day, where students wore maroon and orange spirit shirts. Additionally, Brother Rice welcomed prospective students to shadow and take part in homecoming festivities, like the annual pep rally.
The highlight of spirit week was the pep rally. On Friday, students gathered in the gym to “get hype” for the football game. DJ CR$, Carlos Salgado ‘22, opened the pep rally with music. Our Brother Rice House System hosted a relay-race that was won by Limerick. Following the relay race, the teachers destroyed the students in a tug-of-war contest. The pep rally concluded with chants to get the football players and the crazies ready for the big game against the Hilltoppers. Without a doubt, spirit week was a really entertaining week.
