The Crusaders defeated CCL Blue rival Mt. Carmel 35-24 in a hard fought win. Freshman quarterback Sam Holcomb came to play, accounting for 4 total touchdowns, leading the Crusaders to a thrilling victory.
Sam said, “It felt amazing to lead the team to a big win, but I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, and especially my linemen up front.”
Sam has had an incredible season so far and is continuing to improve his play on the field and his leadership skills off the field.
Senior defensive tackle Marius Adenso had the defensive highlight of the game. He sealed the game with a sack that ended the Caravan’s drive and chance of victory.
Adenso said, “I was so excited to step up and make a play for everyone, especially my teammates and coaches.”
The Crusader Crazies were rowdy all game with a great toga theme. They helped the Crusaders “Gain the Day” and were a big part of the team’s victory.
Senior Adam McBearty said, “I was so happy we won and couldn’t wait to rush the field. I had to make sure me and Manny Uriarte got a chest bump just like we planned before the game.”
The Crusaders will play Fenwick on October 2 for their homecoming game, and are looking forward to their final CCL Blue matchup vs rival Marist.
