On Friday, October 17, the Brother Rice Crusaders rolled past St. Laurence in a dominant 48-6 victory, improving their record to 7-1 and maintaining momentum heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Crusaders entered the game focused and determined to extend their winning streak. Senior Joe Kwilose said the team’s recent success has only strengthened their drive. “I think the team has been great building off the success we’ve had so far, which is helping us continue to win,” said Kwilose.
Brother Rice took control early, scoring multiple times in the first half and putting the Vikings in a deep hole at half. The defense also stepped up, limiting the Vikings to just one touchdown.
“It was a great win, we celebrated it, and now we have to lock back in to close out the season with a win against Ignatius,” said senior King Liggins. “Every game matters, and we’re treating each one like it’s the playoffs.”
The Crusaders will face St. Ignatius in the regular season finale, with hopes of entering the postseason on a high note.
Senior Charlie Barkmeier said, “We needed to have a big week on defense, and we did, and now it’s time to focus on St. Ignatius.”
Brother Rice will look to build on its dominant performance as it prepares for what the team hopes is a long postseason run with some even mentioning a state championship.
