I applied to the University of Dayton and was accepted into the school. I decided I wanted to make the drive to check out what the school has to offer. We went on Sunday, March 30, Dayton’s Admitted Student Day. We had a five-hour drive ahead of us, so we left on Saturday morning.
I know the whole point of the trip was to visit the school, but I had other plans along with it.
I got to Dayton around 5 p.m. and checked into our hotel. My dad and I went to Clementine’s for sandwiches, which were very good.
I texted Jimmy Lyons, a good friend of mine and a former volleyball teammate for a few years that I have not seen in a while.
After dinner, I got to hang out with Jimmy. We caught up and he took me around campus. I also got to see some other Crusader alumni Mikey Horan, Luke Drew, and James Zygadlo.
Luke Drew said, “The University of Dayton has been awesome so far. I’ve met great people who have helped me in my first few months as a Flyer.”
Jimmy and I had a ton of fun together. We talked about our volleyball team’s statuses and some of his old teachers back at school.
Jimmy Lyons said, “I brought Bro Hayes’ notebook to Dayton and let me tell you, it’s a game changer. My studying has been way easier than some of my other peers.”
I got to see all the restaurants and other residential buildings during this time. My dad and I noticed how clean the campus was. Trash cans were everywhere, and no garbage was on the ground.
My dad, John Mikrut, said, “This is the first time I have seen the campus, and the first thing that caught my attention was the cleanliness of the school.”
We then had a good night’s sleep. We had to be at the arena for an introduction early in the morning.
The next morning, we had breakfast at Panera Bread and made our way to the tour.
I had a great time learning about everything that the University of Dayton had to offer. More importantly, I am closer to making my college decision!
Also, it was nice to see one of my buddies again. I cannot wait to see him soon in the future.
