Emeir White, a football state champion and school leader, delivered one of the Founder’s Day speeches that encouraged students to reflect on courage, identity, and BRotherhood. He used his experiences and connected it to the life of Edmund Rice. Despite coming from different centuries and backgrounds, we all have a shared belief of using education to create opportunities.

Reflectin g on his first day as a freshman Emeir admitted he wondered whether the school was built for someone from his neighborhood. Learning about Edmund Rice’s life throughout the years helped him realize he doesn’t need to change who he is to succeed.

“Where you come from shouldn’t dictate how far you go,” Emeir said.

Emeir ended by challenging students to see BRotherhood as more than a saying. He challenged his classmates to support each other and hold each other to a higher standard. White encouraged students to stop talking about the standard and to be the standard, reminding all of us that progress is essential as long as they keep moving.
