On Saturday, March 15, 2025, the Brother Rice track and field team competed at Evanston High School in the Phillips-Richards relays. Varsity took 6th and fresh-soph took 5th overall.
In the fresh-soph 55-meter dash freshman Decatur Washington took 5th with a time of 7.26 while sophomore Jameson Davis took 1st with a time of 6.88. Meanwhile in the varsity 55m dash, junior Dan Speski placed 2nd with a time of 6.83.
Speski said, “I ran well and I’m happy to have taken 2nd place.”
In the 55-meter low hurdles, sophomore Dylan Cody took 5th with a time of 9.91. In the varsity high hurdles, senior Keanu Juhasz took 7th with a time of 9.47 which was a pr for him.
Dylan Cody said, “I think I did well in my race and I am glad I placed.”Lastly, in the mile, senior Brian Biondo and junior Matt Hynes both ran times of 5:10 and placed 7th and 8th respectively. That time was a PR (personal record) for Matt Hynes.
Matt Hynes said, “I am happy with how I ran and look forward to competing at the indoor Catholic League meet.”
The track team will compete this Sunday at Gately Sports Complex for the Indoor Catholic League Championship. The Crusaders are projected to be one of the favorites to win the championship.
