The Brother Rice golf team competed in the Chicago Catholic League championship against schools across the city. The team secured 8th place finish, showcasing their skills against other programs in the league.
Individual standout performances included senior Matthew Hynes, who finished 8th individually demonstrated consistency and composure throughout the tournament. Before the match, Hynes said, “I just wanted to play my game and not overthink it.”
The championship was played under good weather conditions, with mild winds and clear skies that allowed for solid shot-making. Despite the conditions, the Crusaders stayed composed and supported one another throughout the rounds.
“I just tried not to get in my head and play one hole at a time,” Mathew explained. His approach helped him stay steady throughout the challenging stretches of the course.
After the round, Hynes reflected on his finish. “I’m glad I finished strong, even though there were shots I wish I could redo,” he said. His performance helped lead the team to a top-10 finish in a very competitive field.
The Crusaders will now prepare for the remaining matches this season, looking to carry their momentum forward and finish strong.
