Some teams have a coach who acts as the glue for the team or a manager you can’t play without. Though those two roles are important, here at Rice, our glue is Mrs. Nohava.

Mrs. Nohava, mother of senior Aidan Nohava, is the glue which our sports teams are lucky to have. Her endless support and kindness to all programs here do not go unrecognized.

Oh, how I’ll miss playing a tough football game, then enjoying a sweet treat Mrs. Nohava has waiting for the guys. Or going to support the baseball or basketball teams and indulging in the best baked goods on the South Side.

“Mrs. Nohava’s cooking is the best! I look forward to her treats after every game,” senior Gavin Triezenberg said. “I truly will miss her treats.”

It doesn’t matter what game you’re at, Mrs. Nohava’s treats are always in sight. If you can’t find them, just take a big sniff and follow the delicious smell of freshly baked cookies.

I think we can all agree, a Mrs. Nohava bakery needs to happen. Or maybe, for the sake of our health and diets, it should only be open on weekends.

“The snackle box is a hangout must,” senior Marcos Gonzales said. “It’s filled with goodies, and by the end of the night, the box of treats is empty. Mrs. Nohava is the best!”

If you haven’t indulged in the sweetness of her treats, in the nicest way possible, what are you doing?
