The Skating Crusaders took on Providence Catholic on Jan. 25 to celebrate the seniors on their Senior Night.
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end; sadly, this applies to Brother Rice Class of ‘25 varsity hockey players. Their time is slowly winding down in their high school career.
Finishing with style, the Crusaders defeat the Celtics 3 to 1 to wrap up the regular season.
Senior Joe Moonan said, “Brother Rice hockey has taught me how to stay on top of my things and be a good teammate. I’m going to miss having fun practicing with the boys and all the games. I’ll miss my team and my coaches.”
It’s not easy leaving behind a sport that has created bonds with people that will last a lifetime. The endless time spent in practice, games, and meetings has grown this group of guys closer throughout the four years.
Senior Night can be kind of bittersweet. Yes, you’re playing the game you love and enjoy, but when reality sets in, you find your high school time coming to an end. Though it can be a tad despairing reminiscing about the good ol days, instead, look back at the sport and what it has taught you along the way.
Senior Nathan Wilczak said, “Brother Rice hockey means a lot to me; it represents hard work, dedication, and the pride of being a part of something bigger than yourself…from staying focused on the game to always giving my best, I’ve learned just how impactful these things are and how they can make a real difference both on and off the ice.”
These seniors hope to finish off their impressive season with a bang. With the Kennedy Cup playoffs ahead the Crusaders are expected to make a deep run.
