Ms. Madelynn Bolster has been welcomed by the Brother Rice community as she joined the staff this past fall. Although she is a “new” teacher, Ms. Bolster has always been around the Crusaders.

Ms. Bolster said, “I chose to teach at Brother Rice because I attended Queen of Martyrs, Mother McAuley, and Saint Xavier University, so coming to teach at BR has been somewhat of a homecoming for me!”

After interning at City Hall for many summers throughout her high school and college career, she quickly realized that she wanted every day to be different.

Ms. Bolster said, “I quickly knew the 9-to-5 office work life wasn’t for me as I love to be active, stay on my feet, and constantly learn new things.  Teaching quickly became the answer for me as I was considering majors during my freshman year of college.”

Everyone has their own goals, but a goal that everyone should strive to achieve is to leave a positive impact on the place and people they are surrounded by.

“I always try to teach (my students) that what we are learning has a large impact on our lives outside of our classroom,” Ms. Bolster said. “Everything we learn is bigger than us, but has the ability to change and affect us, so becoming involved in your education in the classroom is so important.”

As she integrates herself into the daily life of a Crusader teacher, she has also taken a few leadership roles throughout the school, such as Homecoming and the National Honors Society.

“I am currently in charge of organizing the Homecoming Dance,” Ms. Bolster said. “Another one of my roles here at BR is acting as the new NHS moderator. This will be my third year running the National Honor Society as this was also my role at my last school, so I feel pretty confident as the moderator.”

Many students in Ms. Bolster’s class have enjoyed their time in her classroom. She knows how to bring a positive attitude every day and share that positivity with the class.

Sophomore Mikey Watson said, “My favorite thing about Ms. Bolster’s class is an uplifting environment. She encourages my peers and me by challenging us to push beyond our limits, inspiring everyone to discover their true potential.”
