Do you know that feeling when you want to spit out some homemade cooking but you don’t want to insult your mom or dad? That is how I felt while watching “Morbius.” I already bought the ticket, so I might as well suffer through it.
“Morbius” is a new Marvel movie starring Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius. In the film, Dr. Morbius uses blood from a vampire bat to save his life. Morbius ends up becoming a vampire himself, only able to survive on the blood of humans.
Before you start in the comments, no, it is not the type of vampire who dies in the sun or is allergic to garlic. This variation is much more complex, and how they present him is one of the only things I think this film got right.
The script, plot, villain, and a good amount of the action in “Morbius” just felt off at times.
I went with my MHR crew and they had quite interesting thoughts on this film.
“This is probably the worst movie Marvel has made in quite some time,” said Patrick Maxwell, a senior at Marist.
Jarred Leto fills the role of Morbius well. It is just the film alone that does not really entertain me, “added Danny Enright, a senior at Marist.
I think “Morbius” is the kind of film you only watch once. I mean, you only watch it once to laugh at how bad it is, “said Frank Ostry, a senior at Evergreen Park High School.
Now what are my thoughts on this, you may ask? Well, if I were to grade this film on a scale of 1-10, I would give it about 4.5/10. It is not the worst thing I have ever viewed, but as for Marvel films, it is pretty bad.
The two end-credits scenes, which are a trademark in Marvel films, are undoubtedly the most interesting parts of the film. I will not spoil that, as there are people reading this who may be brave enough to watch it.
If you do view “Morbius,” I applaud you. You have some time to spare, so enjoy it.
