On Thursday, Sept. 26, Marist volleyball defeated Mother McAuley 26-24, and 25-22. The fans overflowed the stands for this highly anticipated match-up. To put this game into perspective, for Mother McAuley it is equivalent to Brother Rice’s football game against Marist.

“It was an intense game; the atmosphere of it was amazing, it reminded me of the Marist vs Rice football game,” said Mother McAuley fan Justin Jefferson.

Marist player Maddie Arundel sealed the deal for Marist’s victory with seven kills, five aces, and 20 digs.

Mary Clare Brusek and Camryn Hannah, a Clemson volleyball recruit, also added six kills and three blocks to help lead Marist to victory.

When asked about Mother McAuley’s loss Justin Jefferson said, “I was extremely disappointed. I was rooting for them to beat Marist because I wanted vengeance for their loss last year.”
