This year, the Mt. Sion Program decided to host their first ever Friendsgiving. On Nov. 14, The Mt. Sion Program and students met in the Brother Rice cafeteria to share a feast together. Students were able to bring food and snacks to share with everyone.

When asked about his favorite part of the Friendsgiving, Brendan Donahue, a student in the Mt. Sion Program said, “The food, and I also loved to see my friend Parker there, too.”

There were plenty of special moments made during this event. One that stands out has to be when everyone went around the table saying what they are grateful for. It is a great way to show our appreciation for our friends and family.

Mt. Sion Program teacher Mrs. Erdmann said, “When everyone spoke about what they were thankful for, I think that was a great value to experience. If I had to change anything, I would put out a menu and people could pick out what they wanted to bring because we had so much food!”

Friendsgiving brought students from the program, Crusaders for Inclusion, and other students together to celebrate. It is a great opportunity to spend time with our classmates and even meet some new friends.

Senior Colin Dickman said, “Friendsgiving is important because it is a great way for the kids to build on the relationships they have built in the classroom over some food.”

Obviously for the Mt. Sion Program their first ever Friendsgiving was a great success. Overall, it was a great night, and there are many more to come.
